Meclhior's Rules of Fencing
- There is always something you can learn, from anybody.
The moment you decide that you know every thing you need to know about fencing, count on somebody like me to be there with a big friggin stick, yanking your lunch money right out of your little sissy boy/girl jeans. - Never parry with your face.
Okay, I can't take credit for that one. It is however so true it could stand being said again. - If it's a defensive action step back, if it's an offensive action step forward.
Distance, distance, distance, if you don’t want to get hit stay out of it and if you're trying to hit control it. NOTE: there are some situations where this axiom doesn’t hold water, if you’re initiating an ‘in’ fight for example, but in general principle it maintains true. - Fight to the bell.
This is an honorable game we play and as such I will continue to poke you full of little holes and slice up your tendons until 'you' inform me that you are dead. - Stance is everything.
If your stance is bad you are unbalanced, I will run you over. Learn a proper stance. - Excessive hits happen.
It sucks but it's true, we all get hit hard from time to time. It's not intentional but it happens, and guess what You Are Still Dead! Deal with it. - Know the rules.
Don’t ask me to quote the rules to you. You got authorized and you should be aware that a draw cut is X number of inches in Atlantia, and so on. If you don’t know the rules, that is your own fault, period. Read the rules, know the rules, stop pissing and moaning. - Age and treachery always beat youth and vigor.
That dogged old provost has forgotten more nasty tricks to whop your butt that you may ever know, so remember to play it safe. And for those of you that don’t know me: no I'm not 'that' old, I’m just that mean and sneaky. - Press the advantage.
If it's three to one in a melee, bust him up. It's a melee. If you take “Provost Uber Badass'” sword arm you don’t HAVE to give up your own. Honor the P.U.B. in some other fashion if you will but remember they "do" have your lunch money and it's time to take it back. - Teach it right, and they will learn it right.
this does not mean that you can blame everything you ‘cant’ do on your teachers, it means that if you are struggling with getting a student to assimilate a lesson, well maybe it’s not the student. Everybody learns in different ways, so to do people teach. - DONT BE STUPID
The world will never be rid of complete and total frigging idiots, but you don’t have to be one of them.
